St. Vincent And The Grenadines – The Perfect Family Boating Trip

Sailing in the Caribbean

With 100 million Americans planning to go on a family vacation in 2019, deciding where to go can often be a difficult decision. However, for families who enjoy boating (or wish to try it out), the perfect destination might be an island – or rather islands – in the Caribbean.  St. Vincent and the Grenadines can make for the perfect family boating trip for many reasons.  I’m sure you are alittle unsettled with thinking about a Caribbean destinations right now as hurricane Dorian has just hit the Bahamas but remember this when planning your next vacation to any island in the Caribbean.  You can always find some incredibly cheap vacation deals during hurricane season but travel insurance is critical when traveling during this season.  I highly recommend travel insurance.  Roam right is a great company along with the well respected Travel Allianz and Travel Guard which have been around for a long time.

The Caribbean is such a wonderful destination and always will be a favorite for many.  We wish the residents of the Bahamas the best as they rebuild their island and repair the damage from Hurricane Dorian.  While the Bahamas is rebuilding here are some great Caribbean options to consider.

St. Vincent & the Grenadines – An ideal destination

Located in the southern Caribbean, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is an English-speaking country comprised of 32 islands, with St. Vincent being the largest. While only nine of these islands are inhabited, the islands are known for being lush with greenery and tropical warm weather. And, when it comes to the shores, St. Vincent is home to unique black sand beaches, thanks to its volcanic origin. Despite being one of the lesser-known vacation destinations, you shouldn’t rule it out – especially if you’re planning a vacation for a family who enjoys their time at sea.

Bequia – Perfect for any kind of boating

While ferries are used to get around to other islands, there is no shortage of boats in St. Vincent’s waters – from yachts to sailboats and motor-boats. With a variety of boat tours, or boats for rent (or purchase), you’re sure to find a cost friendly option that the whole family will love. However, if you find yourself island hopping, Bequia is the place to go – especially if your family is into sailing. The largest of the Grenadines, Bequia is only a ferry ride away from St. Vincent, and is considered the mecca for all things sailing. And, if you plan your trip accordingly, you can make it in time for Easter Regatta, a major cultural event that includes activities fit for the whole family – such as boat racing. However, regardless of what time of the year you plan your trip, you’ll still be able to marvel at the handcrafted boats that are part of Bequia’s heritage.

The Caribbean offers something for everyone

If you’ve ever taken a family vacation before, you probably know all too well how difficult it can be to find a location that everyone will enjoy. Luckily, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has something for everyone. With a variety of activities like snorkeling, diving and sailing, there’s no shortage of things to do – or places to visit, like the botanical gardens in Kingstown or St. Mary’s Cathedral. Plus, with the country’s rich history and culture, it’s safe to say that the entire family will walk away having learned something new – proving that any of the country’s islands make for the perfect family getaway.

Planning the perfect family trip can be difficult. However, if your family enjoys sailing, yachting, or any other type of boating, then it’s worth looking into St. Vincent and the Grenadines as your next family vacation.
