Earlier this year Southwest was offering 50,000 bonus points for their Southwest Rapid Rewards card through Chase.  They’ve just brought the offer back.  This is really great because I’m sure some of you missed out on this offer the first time around.  I have no idea how long this offer will be available as it is not available through the affiliate channels.  I’ve just become aware of it myself earlier this week.  I do my best to keep up with all the lastest rewards credit card offers and inform you of them.  I always want my readers to get in on the best deals available and I’m of course constantly scouting them out for myself too.

There are four different versions of this offer available.  Here they are:

You can for sure get at least 1 personal and 1 business card.  Some people have reported having had both versions of the Southwest Rapid Rewards card at different times.  I don’t believe I’ve seen any reports of having them open at the same time though.

One of the best parts of this deal is the opportunity to earn what Southwest calls the Southwest Companion Pass.  The Southwest Companion Pass lets a person to take a companion along for free! To earn a Southwest Companion Pass you must earn 110,000 Rapid Reward points in a calendar year.  Once you have earned the Southwest Companion Pass it is good for the  remainder of the year and the entire next year. This pass is a huge asset for family travel.  With the Southwest Companion Pass you could book a ticket for you and your spouse and your two kids would fly free if you both had a Companion Pass.  So if you and your spouse both applied for a personal and business card, you’d earn 100,000 Rapid Rewards points each and 200,000 Rapid Rewards points together.  To earn the Southwest Companion Pass you would need to earn an additional 10,000 Rapid Rewards points in each account in the same year to earn the pass.  To earn the 50,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points on this card you have to meet a $1,000 minimum spend within three months.  So that leaves you only with $9,000 in spending to earn the Companion Pass.  If you need some creative ideas, check out my page here

So bottom line, this is a fabulous credit card offer that you should really consider if the timing is right for you.  Unfortunately, the timing is bad for me as I’ve already just done a few Chase applications in the last 30 days.  So I’ll have to wait and see how long this offer hangs around.  As of tonight’s post it’s still live!  Could be around for months or could disappear by next week.  Just don’t know.
