RADISSON & BEST WESTERN STATUS MATCHES

I’m not a big status person because I don’t stay enough nights total over the course of a year to earn status.  Status is very easy to achieve for business travelers but not too easy for us leisure travelers.  But I’m always on the look out for free status upgrades or matches.  This is how I currently have Starwood Gold status and enjoyed the upgrade to a suite on our Beverly Hills trip.  So if you are a leisure traveler like me, you should always be on the look out to for free ways to upgrade yourself so you can enjoy the benefits (room upgrade & breakfast are my favorite) on your next trip.  Here are a couple easy status match offers for you if you have a program you are more than just a member level to use as the match.  Once you have status with one program you have your ticket to free status upgrades with other programs.  It’s really fun!  You can also attain status with some credit cards.  For example, I plan to apply from the Hilton Honors to the Hilton Surpass card (direct lender link) beginning of 2013 before my 4 week Great Britian trip.  This status will be so great for our families trip since we will be staying at several Hilton properties.  So keep this status thing in mind when you are planning up coming trips.

Best Western Status Match

I just recently request this status match.  It was an easy email with a copy attached of a screen print from my Starwood account showing my Gold status.  Took a total of five minutes.  I received a nice letter in the mail a week later telling me my status was upgraded and a new Elite level kit would arrive in the next 2 – 3 weeks.  Easy as that!  Not sure if I’ll be staying at Best Western in the near future but never hurts to have it.  Here is the link

Radisson Status Match

Via Frequent Flyer Bonuses and The Points Guy, Club Carlson (Radisson) will match your elite status but does not advertise this.

Although it is unadvertised, Carlson Hotel’s Club Carlson program will match your elite status from Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Priority Club and Starwood (not sure about Best Western or Accor, if someone is willing to try one of these two please let me know). 

To get your status matched you need to email Club Carlson at goldpointsplus@carlson.com and include a screen shot of your elite status, your Club Carlson membership number and make sure you state that you are requesting a status match.  I just sent me email out today!  This status match will really be nice as I’m staying for a week at a Radisson in Prague this August.  So now I’m hoping for a room upgrade.  YEAH!!!  My mother-in-law will be so pleased!  She just chuckles at my hobby!

  1. Hi, I have Platinum Accor and Diamond BW and both were declined when I tried to upgrade my account via status match with Carlson.

    I think you need to try again with email. Don’t give up! Mention that other friends have received a match and you would like to try out their benefits to see about switching some of your stays to them instead of xxxx.
    I have been waiting to request a match with Club Carlson because I want to time it with my trip to the Park Inn Prague. Here is my correspondence. Hope this helps.

    1. @Julie – Yes. I don’t think it matters how you attained your status They only need a screen print of your account with the status showing to match. You can only be matched to Gold though as they told me Concierge had to be earned.
