Yesterday, American Express launched a new promotion for The Platinum Card® from American Express. American Express usually offers 25,000 Membership Rewards points for signing up for their Platinum card, but as of 3/12/14 they’ve increased the public offer to 40,000 bonus points. $450 annual fee is not waived. This fee may be too steep for some but if you travel quite often and can maximize the benefits it’s a great card. The card benefits are some of the best travel rewards card perks.

Up to $200 per calendar year in statement credits to offset airline fees.
Free Delta SkyClub lounge access and a free Priority Pass Select membership
A $100 statement credit to offset the cost of a Global Entry application. Global Entry is a huge benefit that will save you many hours of not waiting in immigration lines when returning back to the US..
Free Starwood Preferred Guest Gold Status.

The $200 credit towards airline fees charged to your card really brings the fee for all these benefits down to only $250 which is an incredible deal for what you are getting. The Platinum Card also carries “no foreign transaction” fees which is a huge benefit for international travelers. In the past, you haven’t seen this on many AMEX cards but this is where the trend is going.

Bottom line, I think this is a great offer worth considering for some and the highest bonus we’ve seen in awhile for this card.
