LUFTHANSA PREMIER MILES & MORE WORLD MASTERCARD – 50,000 BONUS MILES ENDING SUNDAY!
2/6/14 UPDATE: OFFER HAS EXPIRED
I’ve read many reports that the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard®. is ending December 15, 2013 (Sunday). I don’t know this for a fact but I’ve read many bloggers reporting this.
So if you missed out this summer, now is your chance again. This is absolutely a fabulous offer especially for families when both husband and wife apply.
Barclay is currently offering 50,000 bonus miles after a $5,000 minimum spend in 90 days. This is the best offer I have seen in a long time for this card. Barclay is really raising their bonuses lately to be more competitive with the other airline loyalty brand credit cards in the U.S. I just got this card myself this past summer and I’m pondering where I’ll use these miles for our family.
Miles & More does charge fuel surchages on award tickets but not for domestic award tickets. So this one card sign up basically gives you two free domestic tickets (25,000 per ticket).
The best way to avoid fuel charges is to book tickets that Lufthansa does not assess fuel fees. These are the flights that don’t have fuel fees:
- Flights within the US and Canada including Hawaii
- Flights to Central America
- Flights to South America
- Flights to the Caribbean
- US Airways flights to Europe
- Some United flights to Asia
So for families, if both husband and wife apply and are approved for this card, you would have 110,000 miles(10,000 from min. spend) which could be used for four (4) domestic tickets (U.S., Alaska & Canada).
The other great thing about the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World Mastercard is it’s offered by Barclay. So many of the hot credit card bonus offers are from Chase and American Express; so this will help those who have many applications with these other lenders but nothing with Barclay.
You also receive an annual companion ticket every year. The annual fee is $79 (note: it is not waived – but well worth it for 50,000 points.
So for families, you are getting 100,000 miles ( 4 domestic tickets) for $158 ($79 annual fee x 2). You can’t buy 4 domestic tickets for $158 anywhere. Yes, you do have to spend $10,000 for a couple ($5,000 min. spend per card) but if you use the creative tools I use and have discussed in previous articles (read one here or email me for help), this is very doable. It’s really all about creative spending that’s not really spending. Then just paying all your bills with your credit card even your mortgage using the American Express Bluebird. You can also review my extensive list of ways to meet you minimum spend here.
So if you are a family wanting to plan a nice vacation soon, grab this card (one for you and your spouse) and you’ve got a nice start. If you need some free hotel nights, you could take a look at the Hilton cards (40,000 points or 2 free nights), Club Carlson Visa for 85,000 points and the Marriott Premier card
