Kids Ride Amtrak for 50% Off
I’m always looking for ways for families to save money to travel and Amtrak always has great promotions like this one for families. Maybe this summer consider if it makes financial sense to save money and take your family on Amtrak. Relax, sit back and enjoy your vacation traveling on Amtrak. Kids love trains and so do parents.
Children Ages 2 – 12 Save 50%
On most trains and on most days, up to two children may travel at the half-price fare with each passenger paying the full adult fare. If a third child will be traveling in the party, reservations must be made for that child as an “Adult” and the full adult fare will be charged. For larger parties, make sure that one passenger paying the full adult fare is included for each set of two children you would like to receive the discounted fare.
Infants (under Age 2) Ride Free
One child (classified as an “infant”) under the age of two may ride free with each fare-paying adult. Infants are not entitled to a seat. Additional children under age two are permitted with each adult traveler under the 50% discount policy.

Discount Limitations

Passengers 12 years of age and younger must travel with an adult passenger who is at least 18 years old.

Children traveling alone are not entitled to a children’s discount.

The children’s discount is not valid on weekday Acela Express trains.

The children’s discount does not apply to Business class, First class or sleeping accommodation charges. These upgrades are permitted upon payment of the full accommodation charges.

The children’s discount is not valid for travel on certain Amtrak Thruway connecting services.
