Chase has just relaunched a hot offers on their Southwest Airlines® Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card & Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus Card each with 50,000 bonus points.  Note:  Each of these card version have their own business card version as well with a 50,000 point bonus offers.

This was offered earlier this year and was a very popular offer.  So if you missed out last time around, grab it this time.  I don’t know how long this offer will run.  If I get word on an end date, I will let you know.

This is an easy offer because the minimum spend is only $2,000 in the first 3 months.  You can easily meet this with all my creative ideas listed here and of course prepaid reload cards and gift cards like I discussed in yesterday’s Chase post.  The only difference between the Premier & the Plus is the annual point bonus and the annual fee.  The Premier card is 6,000 annual bonus points and the Plus card is 3,000 annual bonus points.  The Premier has a $99 annual free and the Plus’s fee is $69.  If you are just going strictly for the bonus, I’d get the Plus card.  You will receive 50,000 bonus points with each card.  Or if you have a Premier already, grab the Plus for an extra 50k or apply for the business version of either of these cards.  Lots of possibilities!

My recommendation for families
Families have the potential to really score big with this offer.  Both husband & wife can apply for the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus CardSouthwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus Business Card.  This would net your family a huge score of 200,000 Southwest points.  Also, if you aren’t both approved on both personal & business for some reason at least you’d get 100,000 or maybe 150,000. The min spend would only be $4,000 per person and $8,000 per family.  Total cost would be $69 x 2 cards x 2 people = $276.  See my Resources page for Ways To Meet Min Spend.  It is not as difficult as you might think if you use creative ideas like amazon payments, paypal, gift cards, prepaid cards, etc.  Email me if you need help with this.

The great thing about Southwest is these points can really be stretched into more than 2 flights are advertised depending upon where and when you are flying.  Short flights are very inexpensive.  See examples below.
 San Francisco to Phoenix
10, 679 points & $5.00

San Francisco to Las Vegas
4,980 points & $5.00
I would highly recommend this deal for families looking to travel on short flights.  You can easily see that it is possible to flight short distances for between 5,000 – 10,000 points.  Planning in advance, flying off season (Sept – March) or shoulder season (April – May) will make finding these point redemption’s possible.  Just sign in to your southwest account and play around with locations and dates.  You’ll see what I mean!  You can really stretch these points if you want to.  If you don’t have a Southwest account, sign up here and get 750 free points.
