Czech Republic Adventures – Part 3
“Walking the streets of Prague”
Prague is considered one of the most beautiful untouched cities in all of Europe. It is filled with monuments and places that carry you back in time. Walking the streets of Prague is one of the best way to see the city. Most of all the city can be seen on foot. You really get to feel and experience Prague as you stroll around. You imagine the way it was long ago. As you wander the streets of Prague you can truly see the untouched beauty of this great city. I learned from one of our walking tour guides that Hitler loved this city as well and that is why it was so important to him that it not be destroyed in World War II.
“Old Town Square”
My second day in Prague we went out a guide tour of the Old Jewish Town. As you walk the streets and look around it’s beautiful. One of the most wealthy areas of Prague today. It’s sad the history that it holds though. As you stroll by Gucci and think this was once the Jewish ghetto and think about that dark period of history.
The Old Jewish completed in 1270 in gothic style, it was one of Prague’s first gothic buildings. The Old Jewish Synagogue is one of Europe’s oldest active synagogue and Jewish people still worship regularly there today. It was so small I was unable to get any good pictures inside. I did get a few good pictures of the New Synagogue which is very impressive as well. A visit to these is definitely worth it even if you are not Jewish or religious as the architecture and design of the buildings is amazing.
Next we headed for the Old Town Square to see the famous square and astronomical clock which is really something. We happened to catch a bride and groom enjoying a special picture moment together. I had to snap a photo.
Talk about an beautiful clock! All that gold is amazing! Every hour huge crowds gather round to hear it ring.
The city of Prague is filled with some of the most ornate architecture. I love the towers and carvings in the buildings.
If you want to see more pictures of my trip to the Czech Republic and Prague, you can see of of them posted on the Miles Momma Adventures share site here. Honestly though before I went to Prague I saw lots of beautiful pictures of this city but pictures can’t fully capture it. Like most places in the world, you must experience them for yourself. I highly recommend that you add Prague and the Czech Republic to your bucket list. You won’t be disappointed.
“Walking across the Charles Bridge”
Stay tuned for more future segments from the Czech Republic: Ceske Krumlov – A storybook village, Terezin Concentration – Transit Camp & Jewish Ghetto, and Litomerice – A average Czech town.
