Keep in mind that Avios are not the best way to get to Europe for US residents because the taxes are so huge.  Avios are great for domestic flights.  My family just used 100,000 Avios to fly the four of us to Boston for $20 in taxes.

The draw back on this offer is the minimum spend of $20,000 to get the full 100,000 Avios.  This minimum spend can be done with creative techniques but it will be quite a bit of work.  I think you are better off applying for the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus Card & Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus Business Card.  If a husband & wife both got 2 cards this would be a huge score of 200,000 Southwest points.  Also, if you aren’t both approved on the personal & business for some reason at least you’d get 100,000 or maybe 150,000. The min spend would only be $4,000 per person and $8,000 per family.  Total cost would be $69 x 2 cards x 2 people = $276.  See my Resources page for Ways To Meet Min Spend.  It is not as difficult as you might think if you use creative ideas like amazon payments, paypal, gift cards, prepaid cards, etc.  Email me if you need help with this.  Read more details on these offers here.

So while this offer is a great one because it does give you 50,000 Avios after only $1,000 minimum spend, I would consider all your options and decide before you apply how you would use this points.  I always recommend having a travel goal and budget you are working towards.
