Well folks, I am filled with excitement today as I prepare to head off to Alaska with my family.  I’m ready to spend some of those miles and points I’ve earned in the many various ways I write about.  Now it’s time for the big payoff!  Collecting miles and points sometimes can be free and easy but sometimes it can take a certain amount of work.  If you’re like me with a passion for travel, you are willing to work for your goal!  It’s truly not about the miles or points; the reward is the priceless moments you spend with your loved ones experiencing the world together!  I always feel so blessed to be able to travel the world and that is why I love sharing everything I know with others.

Our family has never been to Alaska and it’s always been on our bucket list.  So I’ve finally planned a great adventure for us this summer.  We thought of cruising as many do but my hubby really wanted to experience Alaska up close, so we are flying there to start our trip.

Alaska has some of the most majestic scenery in all the world with lush coastal rainforests to massive glaciers and Arctic life.  Our family is looking forward to experiencing the wildlife, watching the bears, seeing the whales, spying some bald eagles, white water rafting down Nenana River, riding on Champion Seavey’s Iditarod dog sleds, and just breathing in the freshness of Alaska’s outdoors.

We will be flying, driving, and cruising throughout our 15 day adventure.  We are going to explore some of the South Central, Interior, and Inside Passage of Alaska.  Our trip will take us to Anchorage, Fairbanks, Healy, Denali National Park, the North Pole, Whittier, Seward, and Juneau.  It’s a full schedule of fun!

So if you’ve ever dreamed of an Alaskan adventure, be sure to follow along with us on our trip.  I will be posting pictures, and updates via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Also be sure to stay tuned for a detailed breakdown on how I earned and paid for this trip with miles and points.  Believe me, our little family would never be going on this grand adventure if it were not for miles and points.  I would say I’m positively a miles and point addict but it’s absolutely worth it!

If you’ve been to Alaska, I’ll love to hear any “must do” or “must see” recommendations you might have!  Please leave me a comment below.  Maybe a great little dive restaurant that’s got the best food in town or a secret spot most tourists miss!  We love adventure and seeing sites off the beaten path!

  1. Denali National Park is amazing – I recommend it highly. Also, if you get a chance to take a small plane to see Mt McKinley, get an early morning flight since the clouds frequently roll in later in the day and you may not see it.

  2. Ok Faith I’m gonna count on you for all the suggestion. I want to go too. But clueless on this one. Where did you fly into . Trip report please. Thanks

  3. @leslie – You got it! It’s on my list! I’ll be writing several because we had so many exciting events and I’ve got a ton to share about Alaska. Great tips on places to visit, must sees and a special little B&B that is to die for in Seward.
