If you do a lot on the internet as most people do these day, I’m sure you are concerned about getting your identity stolen someday.  Probably not a bad idea to look into a service like Lifelock Identity Protection.  This service caught my attention because of the miles bonus promotion obviously.

Here are the details:

Lifelock Basic – $9.00/month or $99 year

  • AAdvantage® members will earn 2,500 AAdvantage® miles for the first year of LifeLock Basic enrollment and 1,000 AAdvantage® miles for membership years 2 and 3

Lifelock Ultimate – $22.50/month or $247.50 year

  • AAdvantage® members will earn 3,000 AAdvantage® miles for the first year of LifeLock Ultimate enrollment and 1,250 AAdvantage® miles for membership years 2 and 3.

The additional AAdvantage® miles for years 2 and 3 will be posted to the AAdvantage® member’s account at the beginning of each of the respective membership years.

You can cancel anytime without penalty by calling 1-800-LifeLock. Offer is for new LifeLock members only.

*Must be an active LifeLock member for 31 days to earn AAdvantage® miles.

Please allow 6-8 weeks for AAdvantage® miles to post to your account

This seems like a good deal if you’ve been looking into Identity Theft protection and want to try it out.  You could sign up for the Lifelock Basic for $9/month.  You would need to be enrolled for 1 month before you are eligible for the 2,500 AAdvantage miles bonus.  The terms and conditions states that it can take up to 6-8 weeks before your miles are posted.  To earn the full 5,500 American Airlines miles you would have to sign up for the Lifelock Ultimate for $22.50 month and continue for 3 years.  So if you figure on spending $27 (3 months of basic @ $9.00/month – could be less) for 2,500 AAdvantage miles.  Is this a great deal?  I don’t think so if you are just looking at the miles.  But like I said earlier if you are looking into this type of service and want to check it out this wouldn’t be a bad route to go.  Spend $27, get 2,500 AAdvantage miles and identity theft protection for 3 months.  If you find you like the service continue and earn the additional miles in the years to come.  If not, just cancel.

Remember whenever you are signing up for any service or spending money take a few minutes of your time and do some research to see if there are some miles or points at there to be earned.  Many times there are deals for just about everything you do.  You just need to keep this type of mindset especially with large purchases in life.
