7,300 HILTON POINTS FOR LIFELOCK

If you do a lot on the internet as most people do these days, I’m sure you are concerned about getting your identity stolen.  Probably not a bad idea to look into a service like Lifelock Identity Protection.  This service caught my attention because of the miles bonus promotion obviously.

Here are the details:

Lifelock Basic – $9.00/month or $99 year

Lifelock Ultimate – $22.50/month or $247.50 year

NOTE:
The additional Hilton Honors points for years 2 and 3 will be posted to the Hilton Honors member’s account at the beginning of each of the respective membership years.

Please allow 6-8 weeks for Hilton Honors points to post to your account

ANALYSIS
This seems like a good deal if you’ve been looking into Identity Theft protection and want to try it out.  You could sign up for the Lifelock Basic for $9/month.  You would need to be enrolled for 1 month before you are eligible for the 3,500 Hilton Honors points bonus.  The terms and conditions states that it can take up to 6-8 weeks before your points are posted.  To earn the full 7,300 Hilton Honors points you would have to sign up for the Lifelock Ultimate for $22.50 month and continue for 3 years.  So I would figure on spending $18.  Two months of basic membership at $9.00/month (could be less if points hit before second month’s fee and you can cancel).

Is this a great deal? I think it’s a good deal for buying points.  It really depends upon how fast your points hit.  If you buy points from Hilton Honors they must be purchased in 1,000 point increments at a cost of US$10.00 per 1,000 points. Purchase of less than 10,000 points in any one transaction will be charged at $.0125 per point.  If you pay for one month at $9 that would be .002571 cents per point.  If you end up paying two months for a total of $18 that would be .005142 cents per point.  Bottom line, worst case scenerio $18 buys you 3,500 Hilton Honors points.  You would have to spend $40 to buy 4,000 Hilton Honors points from Hilton.

If you were considering a service like this then this is perfect for you.  Give this service a try and if you find you like the service continue and earn the additional miles in the years to come.  If not, just cancel.

Remember whenever you are signing up for any service or spending money take a few minutes of your time and do some research to see if there are some miles or points at there to be earned.  There are deals for just about everything you do.  You just need to keep this type of mindset especially with large purchases in life.
